The commission process starts with corresponding through email: art@meganstineman.com. I prefer to work from my own photos and would be glad to take photos of whatever subject you have in mind. Commissions are not only portraits. They are for special places, things, and stories. Once we agree to a fee (fees depend on sizing, medium, support used, and difficulty of the painting), we can start shooting photos. Once a photo is chosen, I expect 50% of the fee before starting. The rest will be due at the completion of the painting to your satisfaction.

Paintings usually take 3 months to complete depending on how many paintings I have going. If there is a long waiting list, you will know before hand. If you need it sooner, a rush fee will be applied.  I will email you step by step the progress.

Do you already have a favorite photo? If this is the case, you will need to get written permission from the photographer. Photographers are artists too and need to protect their copyright. I will help you with the process with the correct forms. There are instances where the photo may not have the clarity or lighting to make a great painting. If this is the case, we can discuss different options. Many digital photos that are large can be edited. The larger the photo, the better. You will receive via email the final edit of the photograph before I start painting.

Frame or Gallery wrapped? What is your preference? Frames are chosen according to the decor of where the painting is to be hung, and client's taste. It's a personal decision best left to the client. Most portraits look better with a frame while landscapes, and still-lifes can be done both ways. It's best to know before hand what you prefer so I can paint on a suitable support. I do make custom solid wood  floating frames in my studio for a fee depending on size.

If you have any questions, please email me and I will gladly answer them! Thank you for considering M Stineman originals.
